About - The Net2 modem and modem adaptor allow communication between the Net2 server PC and control units across a standard analogue phone line. This is ideal for managing remote sites. The remote sites need only be connected when system changes are made or event reports are required. A single system can comprise of several Net2 datalines connected by phone line to the PC.

This set up will normally be used when there is no broadband or LAN connection available.

Installation - A Net2 modem is required at both the Net2 server PC and at each remote site. At each remote site the Net2 modem is connected to the Net2 modem adapter. The adapter has labelled terminals for the connection of the Net2 dataline.

When adding control units which are connected by a phone line, the control unit serial numbers must be added manually. This is to increase the security of the system. All configuration of the remote datalines is done using the Net2 Configuration Utility software.

Operation - Remote datalines can be connected to at any time; periodically using the dial up schedule, or manually. When connected, the operation of the control units is exactly the same as when connected directly to the PC. When not connected the control units continue to operate as normal; permitting or denying access to users and buffering events.
