Net2 - managing remote sites via modems
Net2 over multiple sites using phone lines
The example above illustrates access control used on multi-tenanted residential buildings. Each residential block has the common doors secured using Net2. The residents are issued tokens to gain access. The system is administered from the Administration Centre.
The connection between the Administration Centre and the residential blocks is established using telephone lines. The Net2 PC dials up the remote Net2 control units when required to add/delete users or download events. Dialling up can be scheduled by the software to ensure a periodic updating of events and user records.
No PC is needed at the remote sites. The Net2 control units will continue to permit and deny access to users even when not connected to the Administration centre PC. Events are stored in the control unit buffer ready for uploading when connection to the central PC is next established. The modems are configured to auto-answer so no manual intervention is required.
